District Biologist Update December 2022
Minnesota is a great state not only for recreation but for conservation as well. We are fortunate here in the North Star State to have the conservation funding mechanisms in place that provide so many opportunities. From Conservation Partners Legacy (CPL) grants, to the Legislative- Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources (LCCMR), to the Outdoor Heritage Fund (OHF), NWTF has received funding from all of these State sponsored grants. With vast funding resources, the NWTF is able to focus less on where to find money and can focus more on the task at hand, putting great conservation work on the ground. These grants, matched with Super Funds and volunteer efforts have allowed Minnesota NWTF to conserve/enhance nearly 50,000 acres over the last 5-years. On top of the great successes we have had, our Super Fund dollars are being leveraged at 19:1. Simply put, for every member generated dollar in the MN Super Fund for conservation work, staff and partners are bringing another 19 dollars of outside funding to the table to make your dollars go much further.
