Every spring State and Local Chapters of the NWTF sponsor and take many hunters on their first pursuit of our beloved Wild Turkey. If you are interested in learning more about how to hunt turkeys here in Minnesota reach out to your local chapter of the NWTF. A list of chapters can be found here.
Minnesota is home to some of the best mentorship programs for hunting the wild turkey in the nation
“The best thing about mentoring to me is to see the look in their eyes and on their faces when they hear the animals waking up in the morning, sounds they have never heard, and say ‘what was that?’ From teaching them scouting, to the first gobble, to the harvest [and watching] their faces glow, that's why I do it!”
-LAnce Morgan, 2023 National NWTF MENTOr of the year, chapter president of the Long Spurs of Sunrise River
Types of Mentorship Available in Minnesota:
State and local chapters across the state host dozens of events every spring and fall during Minnesota’s wild turkey seasons. Events are focusing specifically on helping certain groups get into the woods and prairies in the state. To list a few we provide hunts for Veterans, Disabled Individuals, Women, and Youth. However, our members are eager to share the experience with everyone! Reach out to a member of your local or state chapter to set up a hunt if you are interested!
